We have identified three different restoration projects which could benefit from additional plantings and have over 1,200 plants arriving to Buffalo next week! We plan to install these plants over the course of 4 separate planting events, each of which will be around 1.5-hours long. Please consider joining us for 1 (or more) of the 4 planting events we have scheduled in June. More detailed descriptions of each planting area are described below.
Event Description:
Since construction of this living shoreline site, Great Lakes water levels have dropped, exposing a gravel shoreline area in need of additional plants. Event 1 will focus on installing plants along the shoreline and in shallow water areas. Event 2 will focus on planting higher up the bank in gravelly soil above the waterline (drier planting conditions are expected during Event 2).
Meeting location:
Volunteers can park in the main gravel parking lot and walk to the event meeting area adjacent to the nature preserve building. After a brief intro and planting demonstration, volunteers will split into small groups to accomplish the planting goals for the day. Please observe the image below and the attached Google maps link for more details about the meeting location. (https://goo.gl/maps/2DghmLYkGoiadYMC7)
