Ellicott Creek RestoreCorps Tree Planting Event

Thank you for your interest in volunteering for our Ellicott Creek RestoreCorps Event, a single-day tree planting effort at Ellicott Creek Park!

This event improves the health of our shoreline through tree plantings in Ellicott Creek Park, which create valuable habitat space for native plants and animals. We will be working in groups of 2-3 people to plant large, bare root trees which will enhance the shoreline along Ellicott Creek. Volunteers can safely come together, in small groups, to engage in direct citizen action, restoring shoreline habitat.

NOTE: This event takes place at our planting area along Ellicott Creek Road located across from the Sunoco Gas Station, meeting in the kayak launch parking area. Please observe the parking location in the first Google Maps image, as well as the actual meeting location within the park at this link:

Safety Information 

The spread of the respiratory illness, COVID‐19, that is caused by the novel coronavirus SARS‐CoV‐2, has been declared a pandemic by the World Health Organization. COVID‐19 is extremely contagious and is believed to be spread primarily from person‐to‐person contact. As a result, federal, state, and local governments and federal and state health agencies recommend social distancing.

Below are measures to follow that will encourage the safety of our staff, volunteers and tour attendants during all in‐person events for 2021.

Before you go
 If you or anyone in your household has tested positive for, or is experiencing COVID‐19 symptoms, or
you have recently been in contact with someone who has tested positive for or exhibited COVID‐
19 symptoms in the last 10 days, do not attend any Waterkeeper function or tour.
 If you are not fully vaccinated and the event location is taking place indoors, you can confirm that you
have not traveled anywhere where NYS recommends quarantining from upon your return (such as
international travel, or travel to non‐contiguous states) in the past 10 days.

During
 All volunteers and tour participants are expected to follow New York State Department of Health
Coronavirus Guidance and Regulations related to COVID‐19.
 Participants must wear a mask and practice appropriate social distancing of at least 6 feet apart. If you
do not have a mask, one will be provided for you.
 Hand sanitizer will be provided.

By participating in any event with Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper you acknowledge the contagious nature of
COVID‐19 and voluntarily assume the risk of exposure or infection that may accompany the activities you intend to perform. I release, covenant not to sue, discharge, and hold harmless Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper, its employees, agents, and representatives, of and from injury, illness, damage, loss, claim, liability, or expense of any kind related to COVID‐19 that I may experience or incur in connection with my participation in volunteer or tour events/activities. I attest that I will not attend any in‐person event hosted by Buffalo Niagara Waterkeeper unless I meet the safety measures listed above.
